Born in São Paulo in 1980, Alex Buck started its education very early, playing the piano and the flute at the music school CLAM, of Zimbo Trio. When he was eleven years old, he started the drums course, which became his main instrument. He had renowned music teachers, such as Nenê, Silvia Góes, Bob Waytt, Cuca Teixeira and Sandro Haick. Nowadays, he teaches piano at the Souza Lima music conservatory, besides teaching drums lessons to students interested in instrumental music.
In 1996 he went to the USA, where he studied music and musical theater in Amherst. In 1997, at the age of 17, he won the Batuka the biggest drums contest in Brazil, promoted by the Vera Figueredo drums institute in the best performance and best music categories (one of his first compositions).
His career as a professional musician started one year later, working as a drums player in the musical play Cabaré Brasil, directed by Wolf Maia. He also worked in another acclaimed play, Pocket Broadway (1999), directed by Rodrigo Pitta, as well as in Tributo a Wilson Simonal , performed in São Paulo in 2003.
In the instrumental music scenario, Alex Buck has already worked with the biggest names in the segment, such as: Arismar do Espírito Santo, Heraldo do Monte, Hermeto Pascoal, Jane Duboc, Filó Machado, Yamandú Costa, Armandinho, Silvia Góes, Vinicius Dorin and Léa Freire.
He attended several traditional festivals of Brazilian instrumental music throughout the country, such as in Itajaí (2001) and in Araçatuba (2002), Alto Paraíso, and others, holding workshops. He has already performed in Russia, in the United States, Holland, Germany and Paraguay.
Among the musicians with whom he has already played, there are: Nenê, Michel Leme, Naylor Proveta Azevedo, Sabá, Walmir Gil, Teco Cardoso, Roberto Sion, Daniel e Victor DAlcântara, Alexandre Mihanovich, Zerró Santos Big Band Project, Thiago Costa, Família Lima, Seu Jorge, Jairzinho, Simoninha and many others.
He participated in recordings with Djalma Lima (2001), Márcio Eiras (1999), Tomati, Eduardo Letti and Michel Leme (2003), Sandro Haick and Bruno Cardoso (2002), with multi-instrumentist Arismar do Espírito Santo (2002), with a trio with Silvia Góes and Thiago (2003), to mention just a few. Nowadays, he is developing his own instrumental music work, presenting his compositions and arrangements together with his quartet.
His first CD Luz da Lua will be launched in the second semester of 2005 by the Maritaca label, and counts on the special participation of Arismar do Espírito Santo, Léa Freire, Thiago do Espírito Santo, Filó Machado, and others.
